ABOUT REIGNITE-IT!

"GUARANTEED TO ENTERTAIN AND EDUCATE LIKELY TO MOTIVATE" - JAY MARX

REIGNITE-IT! GREATEST HITS OF THE SMOKE-IN VOL.1 is a compilation CD and fundraiser supporting the Fourth of July Smoke-In. Featuring live performances by Tom Constanten & G-13 available through www.smoke-in.org Proceeds benefit the annual Washington DC Smoke-In.

Root Boy Slim said: "Ignite-It!" Partly as homage to reggae music and partly as a musical reply to the people who attend the Smoke-In. Held on July 4th in Washington DC for the past 43 years, this rally, march and concert is the longest running demonstration advocating drug policy reform in the United States. The Smoke-In has undergone several changes during its lifetime since being born out of the BE-IN era of political movements. Politicians in Washington view this demonstration as a youthful indiscretion at best, and tend to ignore the event. But this grass roots demonstration has an indelible appeal to the people who attend it by unleashing the pride and empowerment of being a marijuana activist. Many thanks to the people involved in producing this demonstration year after year. Please support the artists heard on this recording who have donated their time & talent. They truly deserve credit for the belief that some day marijuana prohibition shall end.

See ya' on the Fourth of July!

About The Reignite-It! Concert

ON APRIL 20TH, 2005 ARTISTS AND ACTIVISTS CELEBRATED 35 YEARS OF SMOKE-IN HISTORY AND HELD A CD RELEASE PARTY FOR REIGNITE-IT! AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY SMOKE-IN FEATURING:

Tom Principato
Like his guitarist peers in the DC area such as Danny Gatton, Jorma Kaukonen, and Nils Lofgren, this award-winning musician is one of the most unique guitarists around. With 14 releases to his credit, this veteran built his career combining his rich blues background with high-energy rock, and a highly charged, emotionally expressive delivery.

G-13
Here is how Music Monthly of DC/Baltimore described G-13: "The group's calling card is good songs in stark form...an apt representation of the new aesthetic, Frampton comes alive via the Dead."

The Ordinary Way
Local favorites The Ordinary Way are a Northern Virginia-based sextet blending and texturing the genres of rock, funk, jazz, blues, reggae, electronica, and improvisational mayhem. During the past 4 years they have consistently and energetically helped raise funds for Fourth of July Smoke-In and will perform at this years demonstration.

Unfortunate Sons
Founded in 1980 by four friends in Boyds, Maryland as a CCR cover band, this group has retained an emphasis on fun and "music with a message". The band features original tunes from funky psychedelic jam band to crunchy blues and more.
